Thank you for even more fully informing me about gut loathes, e.g. Dubai, and the people who go there. My husband overheard two loud poshos at London St Pancras , bemoaning “everyones moving to Dubai, taking their lives with them , 10s of suitcases, no one has one case any more, everyone’s moving to Dubai”
I loathe Matcha slightly less now, but not enough to taste it. I do like a tea ceremony though.
I read your comment and went to check this out. I’m not sure this is true. The directors are listed as British, French and American on companies house. Steve Bartlet and Peter Jones presumably have some kind of ownership from investing on Dragons Den, and then Felix Capital, a London based venture capital firm also recently invested.
This is so good!! Laughed and got sad all in one

Yes I’m old.
Great writing!
just brilliant, short sentences that capture a (my?) mood so succinctly
💚✨
your description of Dubai 🤌🤌🤌
The PerfectTed brand (used in many high street matcha lattes and on middle class supermarket shelves) is Israhelli owned. Always worth checking!

The two founders are presumably Jewish, and this idea that it’s ’Zionist’ or Israeli owned seems to stem from one linkedin post where he claims that many Jews are fearful of their safety even in London, which is presumably also true (https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fdont-buy-perfect-ted-get-literally-any-other-matcha-v0-rcka6iar9j3f1.jpeg%3Fformat%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D2dc8bf0f6b59f2b52beccf679088c98d2a57ac21)
I don’t really enjoy Matcha, I don’t like this brand and I certainly don’t want to support anyone that is related to a hateful, warmongering state.
But I’m also a bit sick of reading flippant comments about businesses and people that simply don’t seem to be true

They appear to be on the boycott list unless I'm mistaken?

That’s just the same link I posted.
I don’t have tiktok- so maybe the woman in the video puts forward a more compelling case than the owners happen to be Jewish?
dubai seems hellish https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqwkG4W5Xm0
Would love to know about the exact moment when matcha hit the mainstream.
