I loved the writing and dedication. But wait! What about the Salted Jaggery Kulfi, Rose Ice Cream, and Chai Biskoot Ice Cream Sandwich at Spice Deli on Goldhurst Terrace NW6?!

An opus! I love the clash of reverence and casual dismissal that come together in Ruby's writing and make it so damn compelling.

A wondrous and truly important work. Was recently in Baltimore where I partook of a 'gelato' that was alternating layers of frozen custard and Philly-style Italian Water Ice. The contrast in texture and richness was quite something - a steroidal version of Kitty's granita with whipped cream.

This is IMMENSE. I love it. And now I have so many places in London I need to go.

Some of the chocolatiers make ice cream in the summer. William Curley has some already by Piccadilly (I haven't tried yet) and Paul A Young usually has it in his Camden Passage store too.

I've never even been to London and this was such a funny and immersive read, and made me want to seek out Afghan sheeryakh in my own home town. Glorious writing. I can almost taste it!
