Witnessing my grandchildren's weaning process has been one of my greatest pleasures. It is such an adventure, and one mostly devoid of the anxiety I experienced as a (relatively) young mother trying to ensure my children ate well and happily.
Feeding children is such an adventure. So many ups and downs. Their capricious likes/dislikes continue well into teenage years ;) I love the idea of using The Common Table as your wedding guest book. Cynthia is a good friend, and her book is one of my favourites.
I felt all of this. I went to SO much effort to introduce my daughter to so many foods and create blends, too. And I got burnt out by it (that sounds extreme) and was comforted when I was told that (almost) all children start to reject most food around the age they start confidently wandering off alone. We wanted them not to eat the bitter berries.
My daughter just turned four and for most of the last year we've been on a rotating cycle of four "meals" one of which is beans on toast with cheese. Sometimes I stir in a cube of vegetables I've previously roasted, blended and frozen, because I can't shake the feeling that she should be having them. Even though I never wanted to be the parent that hid vegetables. Some days she'll happily eat several broccoli stalks, sometimes dipped in vinegar. Some days she'll refuse. When you love and you love to feed it's very hard.
I love all the effort you've put in. I feel like it is worth it. I hope so!

Ahhh thank you for reading this! It means the world - I adore your work. Looking forward to many more years of capricious eating!

Ah thank you! So much of this process is doing the things you need to, even when they weren't part of the plan. I feel you!
