I've just visited Watani Sheeryakh (thereby also exploring Ilford for the first time - the Elizabeth Line makes it so easy from Central London to Seven Kings) and it's all true. Sam was very welcoming and friendly, and obviously passionate about sheeryakh. The texture is silky smooth, the cardamom flavour subtle but noticeable, and last but not least, crunchy pistachio and almond nuts are generously sprinkled over - divine! After nine months of Roman gelati, this was just what I needed to re-bond with London.
Got one of those mini almond magnum knock offs from lidl in the freezer , I appreciate it isnt an “goat cheese sorbet” but to us working class northerners with no tube system to take shelter in it is a brief delicious respite from the harsh midday sun

Beautiful. Rumours that this would upend many preconceived notions about London were true
