If four years of high school and university French have been good for anything, it has been to use my "authentic" French accent as I read this out loud to my wife! A lovely digestif after finishing All Consuming.
Didn't know about Wayne Thieboud's go at illustrating the Physiology - you want the sensuality of food, Thieboud's the guy - each dish is depicted a wenchly temptation - lovely slippery stuff where "Not one particle, not one drop, not one atom has escaped the attention of the apparatus of taste.’ You can feel him quivering with the exertion of setting the record straight" - phew...
Unexpectedly hilarious, and one of the best things Vittles has ever published.
Thank you! Really appreciate this
Brilliant - a revelation. Will now have to reread Psychology with proper respect.
Thanks Elisabeth!

What a brilliant piece! Depth and insight delivered with mischief. And what a tongue!
Thanks Krishnendu! Means a lot
Fabulous piece. It’s far too long since I read The Physiology of Taste, and I had no idea about his background. Time to re-read. Thank you.
Thank you!
And here I thought the sixth sense was proprioception 😉
Wonderful piece! It was truly entertaining and also thought provoking. Thank you so much!
